The Baptism

Originally produced in August 2009, the inspiration from The Book of Matthew chapter 3 in The Bible was to show John The Baptist at the first pinnacle point of his ministry. This is the first of three paintings of John The Baptist. The second is titled The Platter and the third is The Wilderness.

This oil painting shows an abstract image of John The Baptist at the height of his Ministry on Earth, baptizing The Son of God; Jesus. John The Baptist is shown as having a Dove’s head, wearing camel’s hair. The scriptures say he knew he was not the One, but was to Baptize the One. The Holy Spirit is shown as a white Dove is descending upon Him. Jesus is depicted with a hook that is a representation of being the Ultimate Fisher of Men.
