Inspiration from The Book of Matthew
This painting shows an abstract image of Jesus being tempted by the devil. While Christ was in the wilderness he was tempted by the devil for forty days and forty nights. Satan tempted Jesus to do things because of his circumstances, and surroundings. Satan thought Jesus would give in because he was in a vulnerable position. The devil tried to get Jesus to turn to him for temporary pleasure. The Son of God resisted.
The devil is depicted as a green creature having the head of a cobra. Jesus is shown as a Sun, and has a question mark on his robe which represents a question that each of us has to ask ourselves when we are tempted by the devil, and that is “what am I going to do?” Am I going to give up, and join in with the devil, or do you resist as The Son of God did. God has given us the same powers that Jesus had. The Son has taken his Cross, and pierced it through the head of the snake. The cobra with a hole in his head…still fighting for your soul. Are you going to give in, or are you going to take up your cross and stab him as well? All you have to do is ask God for the power to resist the temptations and deliver you from evil and He shall each and every time. He does that by given us His Word to read daily, and allows us to talk to Him through Prayer. The devil knows that if he can get to you through your mind, and you let him pollute your brain, then it will all ooze into your heart. Watch your thoughts, the things you see, your actions and your words each and every day. You too can pierce the head of the cobra every time he tries to link your mind with his. Just remember you can Pray for deliverance In Jesus Name. Amen!
