Inspiration from The Holy Bible; Luke 2:1-21
The Spirit of The Lord has led me to paint The Birth of Christ in an abstract cubist form. This is a glimpse
into the majority of human minds around the world today. As a way that most of the world sees the birth
of Christ during the year and especially during Christmas. The figures are shown as Russian Dolls
(Matryoshka/Babushka).
Manger Scenes are displayed as ornaments, just as Russian Dolls are, and are put out on front lawns,
mantels, living rooms and window sills, and many don't reverence Jesus the way they should. Many
understand and believe Christ Jesus was born into the world in a stable and laid in a manger, but do they
really believe that he died for our sins and that we are to show respect to our Heavenly Father through
Him at all times. Revelry occurs in front of many Manger Scenes and most don’t even think twice about
the dishonor shown unto our Lord.
Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus are painted as Russian Dolls to also show that we need to live our lives as Russian Dolls, in a sense. We need to place our family members and close friends into our lives and protect them, and also have Christ Jesus as the center of our being. When we place others into our lives it helps us treat them as we want to be treated, and to love them as Christ loves the church. Let us not forget to love others as we want to be loved.
The Alpha & The Omega; The Beginning and The End. The Birth of Christ was the start of a chain of events, and then leads us to the cross where we have the Gift of Salvation through Redemption. The Alpha (the beginning) and the Cross/Omega (the end); where Jesus said, “It is finished!†During that period on earth, man was trying to get right with God on his own strength and power is finished. The debt has been paid.
The three shepherd boys represent the Holy Trinity; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. As it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love himâ€-but God has revealed it to us by His Spirit.
The image of Christ symbolizes Infinity, and represents the infinite love God has for us. The red represents the blood that was shed, that covers our sin and pays the ransom for our very souls. The blood is literally God’s love poured out on the world.
Christ came into the world that we may honor and respect him on a daily basis. He came into the world that we may imitate his life. As many know, he was and has been the only man to ever live a sinless life. Let’s remember Him always and reverence the memories and reality of the Manger Scene in Bethlehem where Christ Jesus was born.
